Nothing could hold her back…

I can’t remember if I’ve posted this before…but I just wanted to share a piece of prose from May last year. Reading it now, I wonder where I was with my life, and am glad I am now seemingly happier 🙂

‘A moment of hope in a world full of chaos and disappointment. So many times knocked down, but now she saw the light. The light in the distance drawing her closer, almost within reach. Like the sun shining through the clouds after a storm, and she knew her time would come.

She had always been quiet. Unassuming and shy, she drew away from noise and confrontation. This allowed her to walk through life unnoticed, and uninterupted, but it also had a consequence. She was forgotten and unwanted. She always knew she’d be the last to grow up, the last to mature and the last to settle. She wasn’t noticed and that’s how it was. It might not have been what she wanted, but she knew that’s the way it would ever be. The lonely one, the one on her own, always watching everyone else in their happiness.

Don’t get me wrong, she was happy. But she was alone, and that was an emptiness she yearned to fill. There was someone once, who she felt was the one. He at least knew who she was, that was a start. He seemed to like her, a major achievement. She even began to believe in herself, the insecurities being shed day by day. She smiled permanently and her face shone.

But then he faded away. Her joy was turned to hurt. Her smile became tears, and the pain took over. Slowly her world clouded over and the skies were dark. Thunderstorms became her daily weather, and nothing could help. She went back to being that shy and insecure girl that no-one knew or cared about. She stayed this way for years, not being able to move on or change her mind.

Recently the clouds parted though. A light shone straight to her heart and she smiled again. Her life was on the turn and nothing could hold her back.’

The title of this blog, ‘nothing could hold her back’, is so incredibly true. The world is your oyster in every part of life and you being you means nothing but greatness lies ahead 🙂 xx
